Sathsang on Saint Eknath..

Since past there had been many Guru parampara in India and till date only this Guru parampara is saving this divine land. Sathguru are the ones send by Bagawan on behalf of Himself. Sathguru are the incarnation of Bagawan’s weapons. Nikamaantha Mahadesikar was the incarnation of gantam (bell) of Tirupathi Perumal. In this way Bagawan sends a Sathguru to spread bhakthi and to know about Himself.

In this Kaliyuga even if Bagawan Himself would come in front of us we won’t believe. So through a Sathguru, Bagawan proves His greatness. This divine story is of Saint Eknath who lived in the sacred land named ‘Paithanipuram’.

Eknath, one of the well-known saints of Maharashtra was born in 1533 A.D. His great-grandfather was the devout Bhanudasar of Paithan who by his devotion and skill had brought back the idol of Shri Vittala to Pandharpur. His paternal grandfather Chakrapani brought him up. From his very childhood Eknath was strong in intellect faith and devotion. When he was twelve, the fire of spirit was kindled in his heart and he earnestly sought a Guru who could lead him in the presence of God.

He was a simple, selfless man full of forgiveness and peace, equality and compassion for all. So devoted was he to God that the lord Himself in the guise of a servant lived along with Eknath. He had great respect for Brahmins and an equal love for untouchables. Brahmins and guests were daily fed before he took his meals. Once, some delicious dishes were being prepared in Eknath’s house for the sraddha of his father. It was a belief that nobody should smell or taste the food being prepared before being served to the Brahmins. But the housemaid incidentally smelt it. When Eknath learnt this, he was not at all angry but fed the food to her. He prepared the sweets once again and served it to the Brahmins. But the Brahmins took offence at Eknath for such an action and declined to attend the ceremony.

Eknath did not know what to do. He sat down perturbed. At that time, the Lord Himself in the guise of a servant asked Eknath to shut all the doors and windows of the house. Little did Eknath know that the Lord was in his house? As he shut the doors he was extremely amazed at the wonderful scene waiting for him. Brahma-the creator, Vishnu and Shiva were waiting for the meals. Eknath offered them all the dishes happily. Meanwhile, the Brahmins decided to see what was happening inside Eknath’s house. When they saw the Lords relishing on the food, they repented for their action and fell down at the feet of Saint Eknath.
