       THE MEMORABLE GOLDEN DAYS

DAY FIVE

15TH DECEMBER 2004, WEDNESDAY

GURUJI AMMA’S SATHSANGAM ABOUT THE GREATNESS OF

 NIKAMAANTHA MAHAA DHESIKAN

{11.00am on 15th December 2004 at Mr.Padhmanaban’s Residence}

Bagawan Krishna is very merciful. Gurujiamma as previously stated “vitthilla porule vaazhi” which means Bhagwath bhakthaas raise, as the sun and moon rises. Sathguru or Bhagwath bhakthaas are the one who is sent by Bagawan Himself on this earth to survive the people on this earth and to show them the right way. Likewise, Swami Nikamaantha Mahaa Dhesikan is the avathar [incarnation] of Lord Srinivasan's bell in ThiruvEnkatamalai [seven hills].

Goddess Ranganaayagi Herself gave him the title “Sarva Thanthra Swathanthrar”.But in those days too,there were many people who disagreed with sathguru. They could not accept Swami Nikamaantha mahaa DhEsikan as a great bhakthaa. Whenever we look upon the Puraanamas, Ithihaasams And charithrams or even today there are many people who do not accept the great bakthaas.  Even in the period of Swami Ramanujar, many people were against him.

The very same way once a snake charmer came to Mahaa dhEsikar and asked, “I came to know that you are the ‘Sarva Thanthra Swathanthrar’ and you have great powers.” Mahaa dhEsikar politely replied, “No I don’t know anything.” Such are our great bhakthaas who inspite of having all the capabilities are very polite but the samsaari people who don’t know anything have immense pride. Having known about the powers of Nikamaantha Mahaa dhEsikar the snake charmer furiously asked, “Now let me know your power.” He had brought many poisonous snakes kept closed in a basket. When he opened it, the snakes became more ferocious as they were kept closed and he let them towards Mahaa dhEsikar.

Immediately Mahaa dhEsikar drew circles. All the snakes came forward towards the circle but only one could cross it and came to bite Mahaa dhEsikar. Immediately Mahaa dhEsikar recited the “Garuda  Dhandakam”. It is the intention of all the bhakthaas that why to trouble Bagawan for such normal situations. Such fearless are our great bhakthaas!!! No sooner did he complete reciting “garuda dhandakam” than Garuda Aazhwaar (a divine bird) came there and snatched the snakes away.

To give some precious divine books to the samsaaris (worldly people), Bagawan did such a leela. Seeing such a miracle shocked the snake charmer. He then realised the power of Nikamaantha Mahaa dhEsikar and he repented on his act. He asked Mahaa dhEsikar to forgive him and requested to return his snakes as he depended on those snakes for his daily bread. Hearing this Nikamaantha Mahaa dhEsikar immediately forgave him and again requested garuda aazhwaar to return the snakes. This is the greatness of our bhakthaas who have immense kindness on the samsaaris. Thus the snake charmer got his snakes back.

Once a pandit asked Nikamaantha Mahaa dhEsikar, “I have heard that you have great powers and you have been given the title, Sarva Thanthra Swathanthrar, so tell me thousand slokaas about Ranganaathar’s ‘Paadhukaa’ [the divine footwear] in one night.” Accordingly, Nikamaantha Mahaa dhEsikar made thousand slokaas named “Paadhukaa sahasram”. The pandit was stunned to see such slokaas of Nikamaantha Mahaa dhEsikar.

 Thus the pandit too realised the power of Nikamaantha Mahaa dhEsikar. The same way  many disciples realised the power of the great devotee through gurujiamma's divine words.

GURUJI AMMA’S SATHSANG ON THE IMPORTANCE OF NAMASANKEERTHANA.

{6.00pm on 15th December 2004, at Mr.S. Mani’s Residence}

All the disciples devotedly welcomed Guruji Amma by chanting “Radhekrishna”. The chanting went on for more than 20-25 minutes. This chanting made everyone to realise the extreme happiness. Guruji Amma thus explained that namasankeerthanam is the only way to attain real happiness. No other alternative is required.

Guruji Amma proved the power of namasankeerthanam by giving examples from Puraanam.

Namasankeerthanam proved its immense and incomparable power at the time of draupadi vastrabharnam. Dushshasan brought draupathi to the court of dhuryodhan by dragging her hair. She was helpless and begged for   help to all those who were present there.     Even though the panchapaandavaas (her husbands), bheeshma pithamaha, vithurar were her well wishers, they were helpless. When everyone turned deaf ears to her cry, she was at the peak of fear. Dushshasan was about to drag her saree and draupathi tried to protect her by various efforts but all her efforts were in vain. At last, she understood that neither her own could help her nor others; even she couldn’t help herself.

She suddenly remembered that only one who could help her is Bagawan Krishna and cried “ Govinda! Pundarikaaksha! rakshamaam sharanaagatha!” having tried all the efforts draupathi finally surrendered herself to Bagawan Krishna and called his nama. At that time Krishna was playing the game of dice with Sathyabaamaa. Suddenly being very restless He ran out and immediately walked in. Sathyabaamaa was confused and asked the reason for His action. Bagawan Krishna replied “ draupadhi called me for help but my Nama itself covered her body in the form of vastram (saree) and saved her before I could reach". Hearing this, tears rolled off from Sathyabaamaa’s eyes and she understood the power of namasankeerthanam.

A secret is hidden in this incident. When our own doesn’t seek help, then we try to seek help from our relatives but they too sometimes are incapable of helping out. Then we believe in ourselves, but we too fail in safeguarding us. This reveals that there is a supreme power above us i.e. Bagawan Krishna whose nama is even more powerful than him.

Another incident revealing the greatness of namasankeerthanam which Guruji Amma told was about Gajendran (an elephant). Once it so happened that it went to the lake to drink water. While drinking water a crocodile caught hold of its legs and Gajendran was unable to protect itself. At last it screamed “Aadhimoolame”. No sooner did its cry reach vaikuntam than lord Narayana saved it.

Guruji Amma asked everyone to chant like Gajendran and draupadhi. Gopis performed all the work for their beloved “Krishna”, without they themelves knowing it as namajabam (chanting).

GURUJI AMMA'S BHAJANS

{7.30pm on 15th December 2004, at Mr.Mahadevan’s Residence}

  Everyone welcomed Guruji Amma excitedly.  Everyone was happily doing Namajabam.  Guruji Amma sang few Bhajans which was liked by everyone.   People were totally immersed in melodious sri krishna bajans of Poojya Shree Shree Amma.

Bhajans were followed by pravachan of Mahan Brahma Shri Gopalavallidasar.  He said in this world nothing is a step higher than Bhakthi.  Even if a person enjoys all worldly pleasure it is of no use.  The worldly things cannot protect us all time.  When the World Trade Centre has collapsed many beautiful, wealthy, well-qualified persons were present in the building, who died.  Their beauty or wealth or qualification couldn’t protect them.   Only Namasankeerthanam and true bhakthi can protect a person from any evil.  But this does not mean one should sacrifice all the worldly things and become sanyasi.  What is important is doing bhakthi and Namajabam and simultaneously doing our Karma.  Because Bagwan Krishna has made this body in such a way that we have to our Karma (duty).

How can we know what is the right way to do Bhakthi.  We being in this world of Maya (illusion) cannot come out of it on our own.  We have to surrender ourselves to a Sathguru.  The surrender should be unconditional one.  Even Lord Krishna told Bagawath Geetha only after Arjun had surrendered himself to Krishna saying that ‘ I am confused. Please instruct me. I am your humble disciple’.  So dont waste your time anymore.  Surrender yourself to the lotus feet of Sathguru and realise the eternal bliss! ! !

A Sathguru only can save us.  He is the only one who can uplift us.  Sathsang by Mahan Brahma Shri Gopalavallidasar had touched hearts of disciple. Mumbai devotees were extremely delighted by Gurujiamma's bajans as well as Mahan Brahma Shri Gopalavallidasar's pravachan.
